学生寮ってどんなところ？　～インスタグラムでリアルな寮生活を発信！～
What is living in a student dormitory like? Sharing our dorm experiences through Instagram!

上智には特色ある直営寮が3つありますが、学生寮ってどんなところでしょうか？

四ッ谷の隣駅、信濃町にある「アルペ国際学生寮（以下アルペ寮）」は、国籍、、宗教、文化、言語等を問わず様々な価値観を持つ学生が集う教育寮です。アルペ寮には「リビンググループ」というコミュニティがあり、各グループには「リビンググループリーダー（LGL）」がいて、寮生が快適な生活を送れるよう幅広い活動をしています。

今回は、LGLとしてインスタグラムで寮生活の魅力を発信している塩尻萌さん（国際教養学科3年）、藤本真帆さん（国際教養学科3年）、福島慶悦さん（総合グローバル学科2年）にお話を伺いました。

Sophia has three unique dormitories under its direct management.

One of them is the Arrupe International Residence (or Arrupe dorm), located in Shinanomachi area, next to Yotsuya. Arrupe dorm is an educational dormitory where students of all nationalities, religions, and cultures, gather. Each unit in the dorm has a “Living Group Leader (LGL),” who is responsible for a wide range of activities to make life in the dorm more comfortable for the residents.

This time, we talked to Moe Shiojiri (3rd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts), Maho Fujimoto (3rd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts), and Keietsu Fukushima (2nd year, Faculty of Global Studies), who are LGLs in charge of sharing interesting aspects of the dormitory life on Arrupe’s Instagram.

まずはじめに、アルペ寮はどんなところか教えていただけますか？

藤本　大学から近いので、授業の合間に寮に帰ったり、気軽に大学に行き図書館で勉強できたりするのがとても便利です。またセキュリティもしっかりしていて安心して過ごせます。

福島　私も、勉強したい時にすぐ大学に行ける環境にあることがとても幸せです。また、留学生や海外経験が長い寮生が多いので英語力も鍛えられますし、多様な価値観や文化に触れることができるので、常に新たな学びを得られます。

塩尻　様々な学部や学年、異なる国籍や背景をもつ寮生と一緒に生活することができ、他にはない多様なコミュニティを築ける環境です。第二の家族とも呼べる素晴らしい人々に出会えました！

皆さんがLGLになったきっかけは何ですか？

塩尻　高校時代にいくつかリーダーを経験していたので、自然とLGLに興味を持ち始めました。

藤本　私も、元々リーダーシップをとり積極的に活動することが好きでした。皆が寮で楽しく過ごし、素敵な思い出を作るサポートができたらと思って。

福島　昨年入寮した時、新型コロナウイルス影響で他の寮生と全く交流が出来なかったんです。そんな中、LGLの先輩方が皆が安心・安全に暮らせるような環境を作ってくれているのを見て感激し、自分も貢献できればと考えたんです。

What made you all become LGLs?

Moe: Having experienced several leadership positions throughout high school, I naturally became interested in the significant roles played by LGLs.

Maho: I, too, originally liked to take on leadership roles and be proactive. I wanted to help everyone have a good time at the dorm and make wonderful memories.

Keietsu: When I entered the dormitory last year, I couldn’t interact with residents at all due to COVID-19. I was so impressed to see how the LGLs were creating a safe and secure environment for everyone, and thought I could contribute to that.

塩尻さんは今年度の春学期から、藤本さんと福島さんは秋学期からインスタグラムを担当されていますね。

塩尻　インスタグラムのアカウント管理とコンテンツ作成を始めて、SNSの影響力を実感しています。寮生から見たリアルな情報を寮内で共有したり、寮外に向けて発信したりしていきたいです。

藤本　インスタグラムは私たちの世代にとって身近なので、アルペ寮の魅力や活動を発信するのにぴったりのツールですよね！デザインやプロモーションにも興味があったので、この活動を通して効果的な発信方法やテクニックなどを学べたらいいなと思いました。

福島　寮内のユニークな環境、そして利他的リーダーシップ育成プログラムなどの魅力的な取り組みを寮生や寮外の人たちにもぜひ知ってほしいと思っています。

Moe, so you have been in charge of Instagram since the Spring semester of this school year, then Maho and Keietsu joined from this Fall, right? Why did you want to manage Arrupe’s Instagram account?

Moe: Yes, I began managing and creating content for Arrupe dorm’s Instagram account this Spring, after realizing the large audience social media is able to reach. Through Instagram, I wanted to share realistic representations of Arrupe’s environment from a resident’s perspective, while also advertising our dorm to external parties.

Maho: Instagram is familiar to our generation, so it’s the perfect tool for advertising the interesting points and activities of Arrupe dorm. I was also interested in design and promotion, so I thought it would be great to learn effective ways and techniques to share information online through this activity.

Keietsu: I wanted to let the students and people outside the dormitory know about the unique environment in this dormitory and the attractive educational programs such as the Altruistic Leadership Development Program.

LGLの紹介や寮内のエコプロジェクトなど、毎回趣向を凝らした内容でデザインも素敵ですね。投稿する際に、心がけていることはありますか？

福島　見やすさ、分かりやすさ、統一感、の3つの要素を大切にしています。皆さん毎日様々なSNSの情報に接するかと思いますが、その中で「一目見たら内容が理解できる投稿」を目指したいです。

 藤本　統一感というのは、アカウントで全ての投稿を見た時の統一感ですね。今学期は「スケッチ」というテーマで、手書き風のデザインを加えているんですよ。

塩尻　効果的に情報を届けるにはどうしたらよいか、デザイン、色、フォントなどを毎回工夫しますね。それから、全て日本語・英語の2ヶ国語で発信しているのも特徴です。

The content of each post is very unique and well-designed, including introductions of LGLs, eco-friendly iniatives in the dormitory, among others. Is there anything you keep in mind when you post?

Keietsu: I try to keep the following three elements in mind: readability, clarity, and consistency. I think everyone comes in contact with a variety of information on social networking sites every day, so I would like to aim for contents that can be understood at a glance.

Maho: For me, it is to create a sense of unity when you look at all the posts on this account. This semester, I’m adding a hand-drawn style design under the theme of sketching.

Moe: We want to ensure posts are consistent in design, color, font, among others, as this h is important to effectively convey information to our followers. Not to mention, we place great emphasis on using both English and Japanese for the text included on all of our posts.

What were some of the challenges you faced while managing Instagram, and when did you feel a sense of accomplishment?

Maho: In the beginning, I was not used to using editing software, so I had a hard time finding the good placement of text and design or finding the colors I imaged. But I felt a sense of accomplishment when I completed the project, and when it received many likes It makes me happy to know that the post I worked and edited has reached a wide audience.

Keietsu: This was my first-time using Instagram, so I found it very difficult to create a post that could be understood at a glance. Of course, I needed to think about the content, but I also needed to think about the use of colors and the overall visual effect from the general framework to the details.In addition to the technical aspects, I was able to learn a lot from Moe and Maho from creating proposals to managing a team. Those were definitely great experiences for me!

Moe: A difficulty I faced when managing Instagram was familiarizing myself with Canva, an editing software I had never used before. Therefore, I actively participated in a design workshop to further my knowledge on content design and improve our content. I feel a sense of accomplishment when residents approach me to say they enjoy the content we share; it is a very rewarding feeling, considering that we spend a lot of time perfecting each post.

最後に、アルペ寮に興味を持った後輩のためにメッセージをお願いします！

藤本　アルペ寮にはたくさんの同期や先輩がいるため、困ったことがあれば何でもすぐに聞くことができます。また国際寮のため、日頃からいろんな言語に接することができ、ともに生活することによって自然と文化交流でき国際感覚が身につきます。つながりを増やしたい、また国際交流したい人に強くお勧めします！

福島　フレンドリーで面白くて、いろいろな価値観をもつ仲間たちが毎日の生活を楽しくしてくれます。それだけでなく、教育プログラムも充実していて、日々の暮らしでこれまで以上に学びを深めることができますよ。

塩尻　様々な人が集まるユニークなコミュニティの一員になれるので、絶対にお勧めです！アルペ寮のような場所は他にありません。インスタグラムでは寮生や寮の様子などを紹介しているのでぜひフォローしてください！

Lastly, please give a message to our future students who are interested in Arrupe dorm!

Maho: In Arrupe dorm, since you will live with many classmates and senior students, if you have any problems, you can ask them right away. Also, because it is an international dormitory, you can come into contact with different languages on a daily basis. By living together, you can naturally exchange cultures and acquire an international sense. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to increase their connections and experience living in a diverse community.

Keietsu: The friendly and interesting friends with different perspectives make everyday life enjoyable. Not only that, the educational programs are excellent so you can learn more than ever before in your daily life.

Moe: I definitely recommend living at Sophia-Arrupe International Residence, especially because you will be able to be a part of a unique community of diverse individuals; there is nowhere quite like Arrupe. As a resident, you will be given the precious opportunity to meet people you wouldn’t meet otherwise.
