Report on the Five-Day Exchange Program Between Sophia and Sogang 　　

課外活動の一環として、本学と同じカトリック大学である西江大学（韓国）を訪問し、学生同士の交流を図ることを目的とした、上智大学と西江大学の両学生による協働プログラムを2月14日～2月18日に開催しました。最終日の活動をお伝えします。

We held a new exchange program between Sophia University and Sogang University from February 14 to 18 at Sogang University in Seoul. This article continues from the activities on the third day. We will report the activities on the final day.

The Final Day ~Farewell~

西江大学のプロジェクトチーム代表の学生の挨拶の後、2日前のディスカッションの発表を行いました。両国の違いなどを知る興味深い話が沢山できました。

5チームに分かれ、それぞれのチームが異なるトピックスについて発表しました。トピックスは美意識、教育、キャリア、流行、社会問題です。
それぞれの今を語る事ができて、沢山の発見が生まれました。

最後に、この企画を提案してくださったOh Seil先生（Vice President of International Affairs) からプロジェクトメンバーへの感謝のお言葉をいただいた後に、全員に修了証が授与されました。
別れを惜しみながら写真をとったり、連絡先を交換したり、このツアーの目的となる交流に終わりは無さそうです。

After the greeting from the Sogang representative, we presented the discussions. We had many interesting conversations about the differences between our two countries.

We divided into five groups, each presenting on different topics: aesthetics, education, careers, trends, and social issues. By discussing these topics, we were able to share our current perspectives and make many new discoveries.

Finally, Prof. Seil Oh (Vice President of International Affairs) who proposed this project, expressed gratitude, and all participants were awarded certificates of completion. We took photos and exchanged contact information. It seemed that the connections made during this tour would continue indefinitely.

5日間を振り返って

Reflecting on the past five days

集団で移動/活動するこのツアーは実際大変なことも多かったです。集合時間に全員集まらなかったり、電車内や駅内ではぐれてしまったり…。全員無事にツアーが終われてよかったです（スマートフォンのある時代でよかったです（笑））。

私たちだけが大変であったわけではありません。西江大学の学生も大変だったと思います。西江大学の学生と話していて、日本人の学生は何をしたいか何を食べたいか等の意思の表明が少なく、どうすればいいか困ったとの声があり、実際、ご飯屋さんで30分以上注文に困ってしまったとも聞きました。日本人の空気を読め、周りを気遣い、遠慮がちである性格・文化は、日本人らしく素敵で誇らしいものでありつつも、逆に自分の考えを言葉にできず、「なんでもいい」や「なんでも大丈夫」が文化の違いとして大変だったように感じました。

文化の違いは当然であり、住む国の違う学生同士がその違いを理解し合い、協力し合いながら、素敵な時間を過ごせたと思います。素敵な時間を作ってくれた西江大学の学生のみなさん、そしてプロジェクトメンバーに感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。

このプロジェクトを通して上智大学・西江大学の学生との出会いと共に過ごした一瞬一瞬がわたしのかけがえのない思い出となりました。国を超えた交流とみんなの笑顔は忘れられません。
プロジェクトに関らわれたすべての、ツアー参加者に感謝いたします。素敵なツアーと思い出をありがとうございました。そして、現地でリードしてくれた西江大学のプロジェクトメンバーに感謝いたします。

It was quite challenging to travel and do group activities for a group project. Some students didn’t arrive at the meeting time, and others got lost on the train or station. I’m glad everyone finished the tour safely. (How important smartphones are! LOL ).

It wasn’t just us who had a hard time; I believe the Sogang students also had a tough time. During our conversations, they mentioned that Japanese students rarely expressed what they wanted to do or eat. The Japanese traits of reading the room, being considerate of others, and being reserved are wonderful and something to be proud of. However, these tendencies can sometimes make communication challenging.

Cultural differences are natural, and I believe that students from different countries were able to understand and cooperate with each other, creating wonderful memories together. I am filled with gratitude for the students from Sogang University who made this wonderful time possible, as well as for the project members.

This project has created invaluable memories for me. I will never forget the cross-cultural exchanges and the smiles we shared. I am grateful to all the tour participants who were involved in the project. Thank you for the wonderful tour and memories. A special thanks to the project members from Sogang University who led us locally.
