Connecting at SSIC: July 2026 Events

SSIC（Sophia Student Integration Commons）は、11号館1階にある学生同士の交流スペースです。授業期間中の平日11:30〜16:30に開放しており、上智大学の学生であれば誰でも気軽に利用できます。

また、SSICを運営する学生センターでは、学生同士のつながりを深めるさまざまなイベントやプログラムを実施しています。

SSIC (Sophia Student Integration Commons), located on the first floor of Building 11, is a space designed to encourage interaction among students. It is open on weekdays from 11:30 to 16:30 during the semester. All Sophia students are welcome to drop by and connect with others.

The Center for Student Affairs, which manages SSIC, organizes a variety of programs and events to promote student exchange through shared experiences.

① 和文化体験

① Japanese Culture Workshop

7月9日、和文化体験として「和布のリースづくり体験」と「ゆかた着付け体験」の2つのイベントを同日開催しました。

今回も昨年の和文化体験でお世話になった服飾文化研究会のみなさんに講師としてお越しいただきました。

和布のリースづくりに挑戦！

まずは、今回初めて開催した「和布のリースづくり体験」です。

講師の方から作り方を教えていただき、和布の切れ端を短冊状に切っていきます。そして、それらを輪に結びつけながら、少しずつリースの形に仕上げていきました。

初めての体験でしたが、参加者は講師の方の説明をすぐに理解し、時間内に無事完成させることができました！

さまざまな色や柄の和布を自由に組み合わせることで、一人ひとり個性の異なる素敵なリースが完成しました。どの作品にも、それぞれのセンスが表れていました。

ゆかたの着付けを体験！

続いては、昨年に引き続き開催した「ゆかた着付け体験」です。

今回も「浴衣デー」に合わせて、前日に実施しました。参加者はまず、講師の方からゆかたの歴史や文化について学び、その後、実際の着付けに挑戦しました。

着付けでは、講師の方にマンツーマンで指導していただき、一人ひとり丁寧にサポートしていただきました。実際にゆかたを着てみることで、日本の伝統的な衣服に触れる貴重な機会となりました。

和布を使ったものづくりと、実際にゆかたを着る体験。異なる2つの体験を通して、日本の服飾文化を身近に感じる一日となりました！

On July 9, we held two Japanese culture workshops on the same day: a fabric wreath-making experience and a yukata dressing experience.

Once again, we invited the same instructors who helped us with last year’s yukata dressing experience.

Making Wreaths with Japanese Fabric!

Participants learned how to make the wreaths, cut pieces of Japanese fabric into strips, and tied them around a ring to create their own wreaths.

Although it was a new experience, everyone quickly understood the instructions and completed their wreaths within the time limit!

By freely combining fabrics of different colours and patterns, each participant created a unique wreath that reflected their individual style.

Yukata Dressing Experience!

As with last year, the experience took place the day before our “Yukata Day.” Participants learned about the history and culture of yukata before trying one on themselves.

The instructors provided one-on-one guidance throughout the process, giving each participant careful support. Wearing a yukata themselves gave participants a valuable opportunity to experience this traditional Japanese garment firsthand.

From making something with Japanese fabric to wearing a yukata, these two experiences offered a wonderful opportunity to get closer to Japanese clothing culture!

② 歌舞伎鑑賞ツアー

② Kabuki Viewing Tour

SSICでは、学生のみなさんに日本の伝統文化に親しんでもらう機会として、6月18日と7月15日の2回にわたり、国立劇場主催の「Discover KABUKI」公演鑑賞ツアーを実施しました。

本公演は歌舞伎初心者にも楽しめる内容となっており、鑑賞前には歌舞伎俳優による分かりやすい解説が行われました。その後、参加者は実際の舞台を鑑賞し、歌舞伎ならではの表現や魅力を体感しました。また、日本語・英語の音声ガイドも用意されており、留学生を含む多くの学生が理解を深めながら鑑賞を楽しみました。

参加者の多くにとって初めての歌舞伎体験となり、日本文化への関心を高める貴重な機会となりました。

On June 18 and July 15, SSIC organized two visits to the annual Discover KABUKI performance presented by the National Theatre, giving more students the opportunity to experience this traditional Japanese performing art.

Designed for beginners, the program began with an engaging introduction by a Kabuki actor, followed by a live performance. English and Japanese audio guides helped both domestic and international students deepen their understanding of Kabuki.

For many participants, it was their first time attending a Kabuki performance, and students appreciated the opportunity to experience an important aspect of Japanese culture in an accessible and enjoyable way.

③ 番外編：かき氷イベント

③ Bonus Feature: A Summer Treat at SSIC

7月8日と7月10日、SSIC Student Staffの企画による「かき氷イベント」を開催しました。

手動のかき氷機を使って一杯ずつ丁寧に作られたかき氷は学生たちに大好評で、両日とも80杯以上を提供。暑さが続く中、多くの学生がひと涼みしながら交流を楽しみました。

2回目の開催日となった7月10日は、毎年恒例の「上智浴衣デー」と重なったこともあり、浴衣姿でSSICを訪れる学生の姿が多く見られました。夏の風物詩であるかき氷を囲みながら談笑する様子からは、学生同士の自然な交流が生まれ、SSICならではの温かなコミュニティの雰囲気が感じられました。

On July 8 and July 10, SSIC Student Staff organized a special shaved ice event at SSIC, bringing a refreshing taste of summer to campus.

Using a traditional hand-cranked shaved ice machine, Student Staff prepared and served more than 80 bowls of shaved ice on each day.

The second event coincided with Sophia Yukata Day on July 10, creating an especially festive atmosphere. Many students visited SSIC wearing colorful yukata, enjoying shaved ice while chatting with fellow students. The combination of traditional summer attire and a classic Japanese seasonal treat brought a lively sense of summer to the campus community.
