【Sophia Dormitories】SSIH Culture Festival : A Day of Global Connections

上智大学直営寮（枝川寮・祖師谷国際交流会館・アルペ国際学生寮）は、国籍、宗教、文化等、多様なバックグラウンドを持つ学生たちが暮らす教育寮です。

Sophia dormitories (Edagawa Men’s Dormitory, Soshigaya International House, and Arrupe International Residence) are educational dormitories where students from diverse backgrounds live and spend time together.

2025年11月9日、秋空の下（時折雨も…！）、上智大学祖師谷国際交流会館で「祖師谷文化祭」が開催されました。地域最大級の祭り、「トライアングルフェスタ」の一企画として、二年ぶりの参加、全寮規模での開催はなんと2019年以来です！留学生と日本人学生が力を合わせ、国際色豊かなプログラムを展開しました。

On November 9, 2025, under the crisp autumn sky (with a few showers along the way!), the Sophia Soshigaya International House (SSIH) hosted the Soshigaya Culture Festival. As part of the area’s largest event, the Triangle Festa, this marked the dormitory’s first participation in two years—and the first full-scale event since 2019! International and Japanese students joined forces to present a vibrant, multicultural program.

■ どんなイベント？

祖師谷文化祭は、地域交流を目的としたフェスタの一部。会館では、オープンハウスツアーや文化紹介コーナー、世界の料理販売、ワークショップなど、寮生が企画・運営する多彩なコンテンツが並びました。さらに、地域の皆さんに向けて大学の教員による特別講演会も行われました。
今年は初めて地域のお祭り会場で寮生が屋台出店に挑戦！また、雨天で急遽ステージを館内に移動しましたが、白雪姫公演やソフィアンくんの登場で会場は笑顔に包まれました。

■ What Kind of Event Is It?

The Soshigaya Culture Festival is a segment of the Triangle Festa aimed at fostering community exchange. At the dormitory, visitors enjoyed an open house tour, world cultural exhibits, world cuisine stalls, and hands-on workshops—all planned and managed by the residents of SSIH. In addition, a special lecture by a university faculty member was held for local residents.

This year featured a first: dorm residents ran a street vending at the local festival venue! When rain forced the stage program indoors, the atmosphere stayed lively with a Snow White performance and an appearance by Sophian-kun, bringing smiles all around.

■ 寮生のパワーが光る！

約50名の寮生がチームに分かれ準備を進め、全体統括、オープンハウス、屋台、キッチン、ワークショップ、ステージ…それぞれがリーダーシップを発揮し、国際交流の場を創り上げました。

■ SSIH Residents Shine!

About 50 residents worked in teams to prepare for the event, taking on roles in overall management, open house, street vending, kitchen operations, workshops, and stage performances. Each team showed strong leadership and creativity, turning the festival into a true hub of international exchange.

祖師谷国際交流会館は、日本人学生と留学生がともに暮らす国際交流拠点。今回の文化祭は、「国際性を地域に発信する」という使命を果たす場であり、同時に寮生がリーダーシップや調整力を育む機会でもあります。

The Soshigaya International House is a hub for international exchange where Japanese and international students live together.This culture festival not only fulfilled its mission of sharing international perspectives with the local community, but also gave residents a valuable opportunity to develop leadership and organizational skills.

Editor’s Note

二年ぶりの参加、そして2019年以来の規模での開催は、寮生にとっても大きな挑戦でしたが、満足の声がたくさんありました。次年度はさらにパワーアップした文化祭を目指します！

Returning after two years—and at full scale for the first time since 2019—was a major challenge, but the event received plenty of positive feedback. Next year, we aim to make the festival even bigger and better!
