Connecting at SSIC: June 2026 Events

SSIC（Sophia Student Integration Commons）は、11号館1階にある学生同士の交流スペースです。授業期間中の平日11:30〜16:30に開放しており、上智大学の学生であれば誰でも気軽に利用できます。

また、SSICを運営する学生センターでは、学生同士のつながりを深めるさまざまなイベントやプログラムを実施しています。

SSIC (Sophia Student Integration Commons), located on the first floor of Building 11, is a space designed to encourage interaction among students. It is open on weekdays from 11:30 to 16:30 during the semester, and all Sophia students are welcome to drop by and connect with others.

The Center for Student Affairs, which manages SSIC, organizes a variety of programs and events to promote student exchange through shared experiences.

① 徳島スタディツアー

① Tokushima Study Tour

6月6日～7日の2日間、徳島県を訪れるスタディツアーを開催しました。現地の文化や地域の魅力に触れながら、多様なバックグラウンドを持つ学生同士が交流を深める2日間となりました。

On June 6–7, SSIC organized a two-day study tour to Tokushima Prefecture.

During the tour, students explored the local culture and unique attractions of the region while deepening connections with fellow participants from diverse backgrounds. The program provided a valuable opportunity for learning and intercultural exchange beyond the classroom.

② 能楽体験ツアー

② Noh Theatre Visit & Experience

6月13日（土）、能楽体験ワンデーツアーを開催しました。

午前中は湯島聖堂や神田明神を散策し、日本の歴史や文化に触れました。ランチタイムには学生同士の交流も深まり、初対面の参加者同士が自然に打ち解ける機会となりました。

午後は宝生能楽堂を訪問し、参加者は次のような体験を行いました。
・能面の装着体験
・能独特の歩き方、「摺足（すりあし）」の体験
・囃子方による楽器の解説と掛け声体験
・装束付き舞囃子の鑑賞

参加した学生からは、「舞台体験が印象に残った」、また、「実際に能を見に行ってみたい」といった感想が寄せられました。日本文化への理解を深めるとともに、学生同士の交流も楽しめる充実した一日となりました。

On Saturday, June 13, SSIC held a one-day Noh experience tour.

In the morning, participants visited Yushima Seido and Kanda Myojin Shrine, learning about Japanese history and culture. During lunchtime, students had the opportunity to interact with one another, and many participants quickly became acquainted despite meeting for the first time.

In the afternoon, the group visited Hosho Noh Theater, where they enjoyed a variety of hands-on experiences, including:

• Trying on Noh masks
• Learning and practicing suriashi (the distinctive gliding walk used in Noh)
• Learning Noh instruments and experiencing vocal calls with hayashi musicians
• Watching a full-costume mai-bayashi dance performance

Students shared feedback such as, “The stage experience was particularly memorable,” and “I would like to attend a Noh performance in the future.” The tour provided a meaningful opportunity to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture while also fostering interaction and friendship among participants.

③ うちわ作りワークショップ

③ Uchiwa Fan-Making Workshop

6月29日（月）、以前紙漉きワークショップでお招きした紙漉師の田村正師匠をお迎えし、「うちわ作りワークショップ」を開催しました。

参加者は和紙ができるまでの工程を学び、紙漉きの実演を見学した後、うちわ作りに挑戦しました。うちわの骨に和紙を貼り合わせる作業では、糊や刷毛、たわしなどの道具を使いながら制作を進め、一人ひとりの個性が光るオリジナル作品が完成しました。

さらに、和紙と身近な紙の繊維を見比べながら、和紙への理解を深めました。

参加者からは、「紙や和紙について学べて興味深かった」、「初めてでも楽しめた」、「今後もこのような体験型イベントに参加したい」という声が多数寄せられました。

On June 29, SSIC hosted an Uchiwa-Making Workshop with Master Papermaker Tamura Tadashi, who had previously led a papermaking workshop at SSIC.

Participants first learned about the process of making traditional Japanese paper (washi) and observed a live papermaking demonstration. They then created their own original uchiwa fans by attaching washi paper to fan frames using glue, brushes, and scrubbing brushes. Each participant completed a unique handmade piece that reflected their own creativity.

In addition, participants compared the fibers used in washi with those found in everyday paper, gaining a deeper understanding of the unique qualities of traditional Japanese paper.

Participants commented that they “enjoyed learning about paper and washi,” “found the workshop easy to follow even as a beginner,” and “would like to participate in similar hands-on events in the future.”
